KCLS Evergreen Pre-Launch Update #3 - What is KCLS contributing to Evergreen?

Continuation of Jed Moffitt's pre-launch updates to staff at KCLS

Attached is the third update in this series...

Dear KCLS Staff:

I’ll dispense with the whole countdown clock shtick from here.  It was fun for a laugh and to make a point that time is always of the essence, but we all know that we are aiming at the week of September 20th.  No sense putting a ticking clock in bold font in every update.  It’s not as though we’re in the midst of an old “Mission Impossible” episode.

Quite the contrary actually.  There’s a lot to be encouraged about on the Evergreen front.  Today was the first day that we’ve actually been working in what we call our “Production Environment”.  Production is the full array of hardware, operating systems, database systems, etc. that we will be running on when we go live in September.

Along the way we’ve moved through various hardware and software configurations that we’ve used variously for exploration, development, testing, and training.  It is exciting to see the final version of the system taking shape.

In today’s update I write about what KCLS has contributed to the Evergreen system and community since we’ve committed to the Evergreen/open-source strategy.

Regards,

Jed Moffitt
